So I hate spam and what not. The guys at Project Honeypot have a new service called Cloudflare and it’s in beta. Their three bullet points to explain themselves are below:

    • Faster
Your webpages load faster, use less bandwidth, free up server resources and provide your visitors with an awesome experience.
    • Safer
Your website repels known attackers, blocks web spam, quarantines malicious code and literally helps clean up the internet.
    • Smarter
You see traffic from web crawlers, stay online when your server goes down and benefit from the knowledge of the CloudFlare community.

So if you see (or saw) this page below it ok:

    Hotelblues.com Under Construction

Hopefully Cloudflare doesn’t fuck everything up. This is a temporary thing until I see how dependable it is.

    Edit
It didn’t get all of my dns info so all my sub-domains are broken. Switching back to my original dns. It’s a good idea. I’ll keep an eye on it as it develops.

It’s Christmas time and that means I’m in the mood once more. Below are the controls for the snow effect.

Soon as Christmas comes this stuff will be gone again.

Domain renewal is another purchase I’ve been putting off. Like buying the parts for a new pc, ordering five more years of Hotelblues.com is a satisfying purchase. Now the domain expires in September 2013. 2013! That is the future man. Shit like that still blows my mind.

Hotelblues.com had it’s host’s hard drive have some really bad problems. That’s the short explanation of what’s wrong. Slowly things are being put back together thanks once again to my wonderful host at Pas-Com Web-Hosting.

A number of things are still not working. As one look at the Camelot AoD site will tell. Email is down, ftp, cgi, and a few other issues. But it’s all coming back up. For now if anyone needs to get me via e-mail just use turk@email.com for the time being. I’ll keep everyone posted on what’s going on.

Look at this, a post with no work hate. I’ve upgraded the poll system that I use. I’ve dropped the old perl version for a slicker php version. There are a number of advantages to this new system. The poll that appears over in the side there is random for one. Also the page listing all the polls (past and present) is cleaner looking. Another nice feature is the ability to limit voting by ip address and just by a cookie stored on your pc.

Eventually I will switch the whole site over to php. But I’m picky about way things are displayed. For example it took for ever to find a php poll script that automatically displayed the poll after voting instead of the poll choices. So by the time I do find everything I need php will have been replaced by some new trend. Of course I’m in no hurry to change.

So I canceled City of Heroes. It just didn’t have enough to keep me playing it. Sure it is fun. But it just lacks some kind of depth. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I miss the phat lewt. I can play until the 28th of this month before it’s gone for good. But I honestly don’t think I will log on again.

I’ve also decided I’m going to upgrade my webhosting package with those fine folks over at Pas-Com Web Hosting. I’ve already got the advanced plan and feel my sites have outgrown that package. With the Webmaster plan I’ll get the following:

    • 3 gigabytes Web Space
    • 30 gigabyte Transfer a Month
    • Unlimited* Pop3 E-mail Accounts
    • Unlimited* Email Forwarding Accounts
    • Unlimited* Email Aliases
    • Unlimited* Email Autoresponders
    • Frontpage Extensions
    • PHP 4 and CGI-BIN
    • 20 MySQL Database
    • 30 something.yourname.com Sub-domains

3 gigs of web space! Man I can’t wait. Imagine all the god damn screen shots I could inflict on you all. I plan on giving the Guild Site a gig to keep it going. Which will also set up the Guild Site for it’s own domain, just need a good one before that happens. On the technical side the additional MySQL Databases will be quite nice. There are a few scripts I’ve tried out and I’ve had to use one database for four different scripts.
