I bought the Orange Box. I’m playing through Episode 2 because I’m too dumb for Portal. But then I hit a brick wall in the form of the driving shit in Episode 2. And again I’m apparently to fucking stupid to figure out what to do. Here is a visual history of what I’m doing. This is the wrong way obviously:

    Car 1 Car 2 Car 3 Car 4 Car 5 Car 6 Car 7 Car 8 Car 9 Car 10

I won’t even get into Portal. I’m completely dead in my tracks. It’s fun enough. I have yet to try Team Fortress 2 online and with people. I played around with the commentary mode to look at the levels. Halo 3 has made me scared of playing online again with the young people.

Half-Life 2: Episode One came out on the 1st. I bought it finally yesterday. Another 19.95 blown on episodic content. I’m still not certain how I feel about this stuff. I do think that Half-Life and Sin are doing it better than Oblivion.

    One Two
    Three Four

I’m only maybe into the game ten minutes or so. Right off the bat you notice that the game is a little more polished than Half-Life 2. The characters act better. Or seem more life like. Not sure yet. Features included in this episode:

    • An all-new episode for one of the best-selling action games of all time.
    • Discover what’s become of City 17, Dr. Breen, and the G-Man.
    • Incredibly advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI (Artificial intelligence)).
    • Highly detailed environments, featuring High Dynamic Range lighting, provide amazing gameplay settings.
    • Digital Actors: The most sophisticated in-game characters ever witnessed.
    • Physical Gameplay: Objects obey the laws of gravity, friction, and buoyancy.
    • Design Team Commentary Mode.
    • Also includes two multiplayer games: Half-Life 2 Deathmatch and Half-Life Deathmatch: SourceTM.
    • Half-Life 2 not required to play.

For only being ten minutes into it I think the game is worth it. Which even after finishing Sin Episode 1, I still can’t say that. If you liked Half-Life 2 grab this first in a series of episodes. I wonder though about this episodic delivery of content.

Half-Life 2 has been getting my full attention ever since the game was unlocked at 12:07 am (Valve time) on the 16th. I played the game from the time I got off of work (around 7 am) until about 4:00 pm. I only took 6 screen shots and the only ones of note to show are these shots of Barney and Alyx:

    One Two
    Three Four
    Five Six

A couple of things about this game. First off the graphics are amazing. I think it’s even more than just the graphics, it’s the environments and the way the story unfolds around you. You may have heard about this games physics in a preview or two. And it’s something that has to be seen, I can’t do it justice writing about it. More or less if you played and liked the first Half-Life this game will be a must have.

Multiplayer is handled by the Counter-Strike: Source, the juiced up version of CS. Personally I don’t like CS so it’s not an issue to me and I’m not big on the multiplayer part of the game. But some people would like to have just a plain old Half-Life 2 Death Match mode. And from what I hear it’s coming thanks to the mod community.

And no I’m not referring to my unemployment collecting ass. I picked this game up a week ago. This is one of those that clenches any thirst for bloodshed one might have. Besides being a first person shooter this game really has a story. It based on the Quake engine by those guys at id. Seeing how bad SIN ran on my poor 166mhz with a monster 3d card(3dfx!!) Half-Life ran smooth. The only problem I had was a sound hick-up hear and there. If you click the picture you can see the blood up close. The security guard laying at my feet is Barney. God rest his soul. Great game!!! Go buy it and I’ll see you online.

By the way go hit the Area-S website. Right now!!! Ok after you go out and pick up Half-Life.
