I have not posted to the site in a while, so let me introduce my self. I am the GM at a hotel in South Beloit. Any one interested in a GM’s thoughts can view my section of the webpage at G.M. Letters. I will be updating it in a week or so.

I want everyone to behave we have had our first visitor from another local hotel. So everyone say hi to Jill an employee at a sister chain here in Beloit. Let me be the first to say Hi Jill. This is what Jill had to say:

I was bored at work (Beloit Express), so I pulled up your web page. I am quite impressed. Encore does suck. I have many more comments, but I haven’t finished looking at your site. I can’t believe that you are posting the FDM’s password. Pretty cool.

This site made me laugh so hard I cried. Maybe I was crying because I was so bored working by myself with the grand title of MOD at the Beloit Holiday Inn Express. God, it is so nice to know that someone thinks the same things as you do about working for Bass Hotels and Resorts Inc.

Turk was very clear when he told me that those are not the FDM’s actual passwords. And I believe that Turk is a honest lad. Also We all love encore. So Jill I don’t see were you comments about encore came from. And Turk also wanted me to put up what she wrote in the guest book, because Turk says the rest of you should learn from Jill here and sign the guest book.

I of course don’t agree with the comment Jill made about working for Bass Hotels and Resorts Inc. Because as everyone knows I am a company man till death. And beside dear employees this is the best job a person can have. So once more everyone say hi to Jill. And be on the watch for my updated G.M. Letters. Till next time dear employees.

Just a few things this time around. I have to say hi to Kathy and Tina. Kathy is from the restaurant, and is damn nice just for the fact she borrowed me a tape of a South Park from about two weeks ago.

Tina works in sales and I feel for her. I don’t like sales people. They usually don’t have a grasp on what happens at the desk. Not all of them are like that. And just to show I’m not trying to be rude on purpose, keep in mind my mom does sales for another hotel chain.

My buddy Sarah (harpy number 9)has joined the rest of us in the computer age. She uses a MAC, but I wont hold that against her. So everyone remember to say hi to Sarah, she’s one of us now. This is what she had to say:

Just a few things this time around. First Liz one of are sales and catering ladies has left the hotel for a GM gig. Liz had been at the hotel for well over ten years. She started as a Frontdesk clerk and moved her way up the food chain. So it gives one hope that you can move up at the hotel. Of course when Liz moved up from front desk to sales we were under different owners and I don’t see that kind of situation happening under present owners. So good luck I say to her.

Second My buddy Mark J. has become a management type. He has taken the Chief engineer job. mark is quick to point out that he has not had his bodily fluids swapped out yet and does not plan on letting them do it. He’s also quick to point out that I am a management type also. Because of the fact that I am a MOD on third shift. I say that its just a franchise technicality and nothing more than that. So good luck I say to Mark, because he’s going to need it.

And we have a new auditor among our ranks and boot camp starts next Wednesday. As of the 23rd of this month I get to train the forty something college boy. this guy has a slew of degrees and has his own accounting business. I just hate college boys and their goddamn degrees. All I need to prepare for the 23rd is to get my copy of Full Metal Jacket. And then will see if he can survive boot camp.

Here I’m with Teri drinking at my house, after a night of drinking. And the one thing that amazes me is that all (and I mean all) of the people we work with at the hotel are strange. I am also included in the strange category. Teri is like Sarah, she has a thing for going to nasty bars after bar time comes and drinking till bar time in Wisconsin isn’t good enough for her. No we have to run into Illinois to pick up that extra half an hour. You have to keep in mind that Teri and Sarah both bartended together. And you take me back a few years ago and I would appreciate the whole extra half hour a little more.

“I don’t suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.” Teri says after my observation on all employees being strange. She agrees that all employees are strange. High praise coming from her.

And I would like to point out that when I say all employees are strange that I do not mean it in a bad way. Me and Ericka(32 times) had a conversation about writing a book or play about the people we have met at the hotel. I mean it as a compliment. Usually you only read about this many people in good novels, or bad novels, Or see them on the big screen.

It was funny as I was leaving work this morning Sherry had asked me why I had stayed after so long. Of course the most obvious reason was that I was milking the clock. But I wasn’t. I was talking to Ericka(24 times) who just doesn’t usually work mornings. I enjoy talking to Ericka(25 times) because she can carry on a smart and intelligent conversation.

Sherry hadn’t realized that this was the Ericka(26 times) that I’m always referring to on the website. I just thought it funny. Sherry and Ericka(27 times) both work at the same hotel. They just don’t work in the same section of the Hotel. Ericka(28 times) works in the restaurant. Sherry works the front desk. And they both work different shifts. Sherry was like “oh that Ericka(29 times).”

I brought this up for a reason. The first and fore most reason is that I’m a sarcastic son of a bitch. I figured it would be funny to keep a running total of how many times I mention Ericka(30 times) on this site. the real reason I brought this up is that the for the few employees that do read this site its a good way for them to learn about other employees. If of course you accept my opinion of the people I talk about.

I would again like to say that I wish more employees would participate in my little underground newspaper. So if you either work or have worked at the hotel and want to voice your constitutional right of free speech and press send me a e-mail with whatever you have to say. And I’ll put it up either here or in the Two Cents page. Include some kind of title. And tell me if its ok to slap your e-mail address on the title. Managers who visit the site are more and welcome to participate also. Except I wont edit your text for spelling errors. I figure if you can be a manager then you should know how to use a dictionary.

I wanted to just clarify, because of the way I ended yesterdays post that I don’t have anything against Scott or Ericka(31 times). I just figured that I have just been mentioning them a little to often and I didn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. I think the world of both of them.

On the 8th of this month we had our big inspection. Now I have heard that when you fail the final inspection that the big guys in Atlanta will not only take the franchise away, but they will tear the great sign down. God that would be a awesome picture opportunity. Not that I want us (the hotel) to lose the brand name, its just I do have this site here to run.

Well after fucking around for thirty minutes with tables and cells I have gave up putting the side by side point by point blow for blow of the last two inspections. Here it is really simple. In march we blew chunks with a 843 out of 1000. Well on the 8th of this month we got 901 out of 1000. So we did better.

On to the next order of business. I was going to write up about how Scott (the oldest Thorpe Boy) is a true to life good guy. I do happen to have proof to this effect. I decided against it though when I realized that if I talk about him I probably would have to mention Ericka a couple of times at least. Well I did a little count and her name appears 18 time on this page alone. With five more references to her on the current Working page. That’s 23 time over all. By coincidence Scott appears a total 23 times also over these pages. That’s strange both of them referred to 23 times each. Stranger than fiction.
