The man who is the General Manager of the hotel I work at is moving on. He is a man I have taken shots at a number of times in the past. The Letters from a General Manager comes to mind. For the rest you will have to do a search of my site and put in GM or General Manager. Their are lots of references to him. Guido (a former Manager of the hotel) expects me to maybe take one last shot at the GM. Let me give it a shot.

In the GM’s letter that accompanied our paychecks he let the employee’s know about his departure. In it he says:

It is with mixed emotions that I need to inform you I have accepted the position as General Manager at our hotel in Wisconsin. I personally will greatly miss the entire staff who I worked with over the past six years.
Our company looks forward to a great 2001 at the hotel, and each of you are part of that. I will always be a part of this hotel, and will keep in touch with you into the future.

Thank you for making my job here fun! (Most of the time.)

The GM

Now for the record I respect and admire what this man does. Before when I was at the hotel leading up to the time I got fired I never understood what a GM really does. Back then I would look at what this GM did and think shit anyone can do that. It looked like the guy sat in his office quite a lot.

Well after being fired and sitting on un-employment for six months I went to work for a company called Amerihost Inns. I was a General Manager. It was hard. In fact I really fucking hated it. I also sucked at it big time. I just don’t have the people skills needed for the position. This hotel’s GM does!

Now I know that being a GM isn’t something I want to do. I really don’t even like working as an auditor. But I respect those who can do it and make a good living while doing it. The GM is a good man. I wish that things in the past could have been different. I really will miss the guy.

So to sum up, I apologize for all of the trouble I have caused this man in the past. I didn’t know what he did. I didn’t try to find out what the man did. I made fun of the man and what he does for a living without truly understanding what it was his job entails.

No one put me up to this. No lawsuit was threatened. This is not my attempt at sarcasm. This is how I feel.

Hey buddy, it was good seeing you last night out in public with alcoholic beverage in hand. I hope you had a good time and every thing. Its been a while since I laughed so much, it felt good. We are still waiting for a new performance of the beetles.

Thanks for the mention about my b-day. This years birthday celebration was postponed, I was in the ugliest state in the union on my birthday this year, Missouri. I was in peculiar Missouri on December 6th with a business associate working, we only saw 3 cute, not pretty just cute girls the entire time there, and they had out of state plates on their car.

It was cool that you were able to show up for the belated x-mas and b-day party on the 29th, to bad you had to leave early. You missed the traditional table and bar dancing performance. Next year we will tape it and let you put it on your site.

To change the subject: I know we share a difference of opinion of the K-dog and his recent announcement of departure. After you post your epitaph for him I will sent you my response ok. a little controversy always stimulates hits. We have a bachelor party coming up soon maybe you can join us for it. Who it’s for is unimportant its just an excuse to go to some disreputable establishments. Want to join in?

Well it’s coming along nicely. As you can see with this page I have thrown all of December’s “news” into its own archive. It’s the twentieth archive off of this the main page. That’s a lot of ranting and raving. Only archives ten-sixteen needs to be converted. Then the Working stuff and I’m done with the makeover.

While doing the conversion of those pages it was nice to read some of the old stuff that has happened. Old friends who I have lost touch with. It’s a shame things have to happen the way they do. On the 31st of this month the website will be going on the start of it’s fourth year. That’s wild. I also turn 29 in March. I’m not looking forward to that. Of course the year after I will be thirty.

Sorry I’m getting sentimental reading about everything in the archives.

Well I had a few problems at work. Although it wasn’t really a problem, more of a mistake on my part. I do the audit at the hotel. It’s my job to do all the paperwork and such. I use the computer to do backups of our data. The computer then posts the room and tax. Very simple. On the first day of the New Year you are supposed to do a back up before the audit. I was misinformed about some of the procedures. So in essence I was walking a tightrope without the safety net.

Happy New Year! Like I said, I was alone for it. The Ross’s stopped in to see me. I hadn’t seen them in ages. I do owe Mr. Ross a hug. It would have been a great male bonding moment. Next time.

Almost a hour away to the New Year and I’m stuck working again. If you go out tonight make sure you have a few for me. Ok? I stopped into my favorite watering hole and had a beer. That’s all I’m going to get. Last year I was all alone when the New Year came. So I’m sure it will be that way again.

Well the New Year is just around the corner. I think it will be a little weird seeing it’s going to be the year 2001. I am a sci-fi freak, so that date of course has some meaning to me. Next to 1984 that is. Of course the year 2001 won’t be like Clarke’s book or the Kurbick movie for that matter. Are we even close? I don’t think so. Just see if you can get your computer to talk to you. Mine won’t answer me. The space program isn’t even close to what the book and movie portray. Hell NASA can’t even send a probe to Mars, let alone go out to Jupiter. But I digress.

I have to work the the third shift tonight. In the last four years the only New Years Eve I had off was the one I was unemployed for. I asked for it off again, as I did last year. Both times I had put in my request in advance. Both times I have been given some lame ass excuse. I think it’s more that they (the hotel) doesn’t want my co-worker to be on. The reason? Well I have been told by a number of people that my co-worker has a habit of screwing up. A few of the managers will ask me on the eve of a big holiday if I work? When I tell them no it’s not me they say “oh no”. What can you do?

So I’m going to wish everyone a safe New Years Eve now. Try to stay out of trouble.
