Beta 5 is live. With it the nda is gone. I offer up screen shots from the game. My computer is mid range I guess. It should be noted these screens are from before beta 5 and that is why it looks like my character is attacking with no weapon. He is attacking with a longsword. Beta 5 since has fixed it for some it appears. I still can not see the helmet I’m wearing. 35 shots total, these are my favorites:

    One Two
    Three Four
    Five Six

The game runs like shit. It chugs and it is not playable as far as I’m concerned. I can run lots of nice looking games and for what it looks like there is no reason it should chug the way it does. It’s also not fun. Which may be from the chugging. But the world and characters just lack personality. Again this is all my opinion. But Vanguard is not the game for me. It’s going open beta here real soon. And retail by the end of the month. In it’s current form I don’t see it lasting long. Good look and good riddance.

Saw this on Lum’s and was to funny to pass up. This kind of thing is why I’ll never get to the level cap in WoW at least not at my rate of leveling:

    Sedudai The Motivational Speaker

My favorite (and I’ve added it to my random quotes up top):

[Guild] [Sedudai]:God I hate people. There is not a bus big enough to run over all of the people I hate.

    Classic.

Hurray a beta invite to Vanguard Saga of Heroes. I love beta invites.

    Dear Turk,

We are delighted to extend this invitation to you to participate in the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes beta Phase 3. Below are the instructions needed to get you started on a path towards Telon. We have made the process as painless as possible.

Here are the required specs for Vanguard:

    • Windows® 2000/XP
    • 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible computer
    • 100% DirectX compatible keyboard or input device
    • Processor 2.4 GHz Intel processor or 2400+ or higher model AMD processor
    • 512 MB RAM
    • Vertex and Pixel shader 2.0 compatible hardware with 128MB of texture memory
    • 100%DirectX compatible sound card
    • 56K + Internet Connection
    • 16X Speed DVD-ROM
    • 20 Gigabytes Hard Drive Space

After you have completed the download of the launch pad, please open that file and run the vanguard.exe from inside the winzip file. This will create a Vanguard icon on your desktop. Run that file to begin the download of the actual beta 3 files. Please be aware that your download times may be long!

We sincerely appreciate your support and interest in Vanguard and in Sigil Games Online. We look forward to seeing you in game.

Should you experience any problems or need more clarification for any of these instructions, please contact us at customer support.

    Sincerely,

    The Vanguard Dev Team
    Sigil Games Online, Inc.

Ug. I was excited until this bullet point:

    • 20 Gigabytes Hard Drive Space

And then they go on to tell me:

Please be aware that your download times may be long!

No shit, huh? I sure hope that when this thing is done that when people buy it in stores they don’t need 20+ gigs for the install. 20 gigs is what? Four or Five dvds? That is just crazy. But I suppose that is they way of the future.

This is the first and last post I talk about Vanguard. As anything in the future is illegal as long the non disclosure agreement is active.

This post is for my own purposes to track my gaming habits really. As of the 15th my City of Villains account is closed. On a whim I’ve rejoined the ranks of the World of Warcraft. I’ve installed the game again and patched up the newest patch. When I log in on my 30th level human warrior the game renders unknown entities and my character is invisible. Then out of goodness of the games heart WoW drops my internet. It’s so good to be back.

    Star Trek Legacy 5:32 pm-

Star Trek Legacy is the first game published by Oblivion creators Bethesda Softworks and it’s out now for the pc. It’s a RTS without any base building or resource gathering and so far it’s just a lot of fun. The game was designed by the same people that did Star Trek: Armada II.

    One Two
    Three Four
    Five Six
    Seven Eight

One of the big things about this game is that has every series featured in it. So the entire history of Star Trek is represented. Also everyone of the Captains from each show has done voice over work for it. The downside is that the game has a huge console feel to it. Stressed even more by it’s automatic use of a wired Xbox 360 controller if you have one. What even makes it worst is that there is no explanation on what button does what on the controller. So you have to fumble around with it till you got it all figured out. It helps in my opinion to have the 360 controller though. It seems easier to control than using a keyboard and mouse.

So if your a huge Star Trek Geek I think the game is for you. As I’m just having a lot of fun playing the game despite it’s console feel. Be aware there is a patch already that is needed for multiplayer. You can get that over at the Bethesda Star Trek Legacy site. Star Trek: Legacy Patch v1.1 (5.22 MB).

Come Back To Camelot? 1:13 am-

It’s Come Back To Camelot time once again according to the Camelot Herald:

We kicked off the Come Back To Camelot campaign this morning. All inactive accounts (ones that were in good standing) have been reactivated for ten days.

To celebrate, and as a little thank you to all of our current players, the Moderately Evil Overlord and his minion (Content Boss Rob) decided that in ADDITION to the SI/RVR bonus experience, we would also activate double Realm Points and double Bounty points on Agramon Island. Enjoy.

I’m going to give DAoC a try again. I’m getting bored in CoV again.

    *Update
    From the Herald:

Come Back To Camelot: Boy, do I feel like a dweeb. I assumed that we were activated ALL old accounts, and you know what they say about “assume.” We activated all accounts that went inactive as of the last year, not all accounts ever – I have been told in somewhat blistering terms that “all accounts ever” would still be processing. Since this was entirely my bad, please feel free to email me (first name at mythicentertainment dot com) with the account name, if you went inactive more than a year ago. I apologize to those of you annoyed by this.
