Did you hear about how an early version of Doom 3 was leaked onto the net? This was so big it even made CNN. It’s been floating around the net now for almost a month and I finally got a hold of a copy. I know that this is wrong. At least form id’s stand point. And I do happen to agree with them.

But I’m only human. I found a real copy and I had to download it. I won’t give the link out so don’t even ask. Find it yourself. I now know that my computer has once again joined the lowend. I have a AMD Athlon 1.2, Thunderbird with 512mb’s of ram, a GeForce 3 video card, and a nice big 80 gig harddrive. Doom 3 laughs at my pathetic computer. My computer is shit.

I have to run the leaked alpha at 640×480. Everything is on by default graphics wise. I get a very low 6-8 frames per second. God forbid more than one monster is attacking. Wow, playing Doom 3 just doesn’t make me care about my now pathetic computer. What a game. The monster detail is amazing even at 640×480. Here are 6 screenshots of the doom 3 Alpha leek:

By the way, if you have the leak I do have a link for you. It’s to a forum post that explains how to make the alpha work. This’ll Help U Get Doom Running OK is the name of the post. One thing it forgets to mention is the fact that clicking Single Player and then New Game will make the game crash.

I got an email from Sony Online Entertainment Inc. and couldn’t be happier. Here is what it said:

We are pleased to inform you that your signed TERMS OF USE, LICENSE AND NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT for participation in the beta testing of Star Wars Galaxies ™: An Empire Divided ™ has been received and verified.

Of course this is all I need. I’m already playing Dark Age of Camelot and Earth & Beyond. I guess a little Star Wars Galaxies won’t hurt.

Porrasturvat – Stair Dismount is a little game I found that is a lot of fun. Lots of fun in a sick and demented kind of way. The below screenshots are all you need to see for a description of the game.

As you can see it’s a little different. But it is a detailed simulation of knocking some poor bastard down some stairs. You can download it from them or me if you can’t access their site. The 1.98mb file is located down below on my server.

Earth and Beyond is a little different than the other online role playing games I’ve played. I made level 25 today. It took me a year to hit to level 25 in Dark Age of Camelot. Saying my level is 25 is a little misleading.

Levels play a little different in E&B. There are three skills or classes. Combat, Explore, and Trade. You gain experience in the appropriate category. When you have enough experience in one of these category’s you go up a level in it. So I have a combat level 9, explore level 9, and trade level 7. The levels cap at 150. E&B is a different game than DAoC.

And I’m having a shitload of fun playing it. I’ve already logged 20+ hours. I don’t know yet if I’ll keep playing after the free 30 days are up. I also joined a guild called Traders R Us. The only reason I joined up is because I the person creating the guild was offering 100,000 in credits to people to get the minimum number of people to create a guild. And what the hell I’m an officer in the guild. When they give me a url to a website I will post it. I just wonder if E&B will run on the shitty work computer?

Okay so I’ve talked about playing mmorpg before. I have played a few of these types of games. I tried Everquest. It was ok. DAoC was the next one and I really dig Dark Age of Camelot. But this game Earth and Beyond just may have something that would get me to stop playing DAoC. It’s the Star Trek Geek in me. You even get to name your ship. I’ve made it to level 14 already and I have only played maybe seven hours tops. I don’t know if it’s good or bad to be leveling that fast. I don’t care either because it’s so much fun. This is one to look at if your tired of the fantasy mmorpg.

Age of Mythology is a game I picked up yesterday. It’s published by Microsoft and made by Ensemble Studios. Ensemble Studios are the same people that made Age of Empires and Age of Kings. If you played their games before you will like Mythology. It follows the same pattern of Age of Kings. But has mythical units you can use. All in all it is a lot of fun. You can expect lots of more screen shots of the games I get. I have the space to waste now.

Well my PC is finally working again. I gave up on the idea of me fixing it myself. So I took it to a local computer store to have them look at it. I’m kicking myself now. I wasted probably two hundred dollars on three fans, a new hard drive, a new cd-rom, and a new power supply. The problem was that one of my sticks of 256mb of ram had gone bad. I’m a little embarrassed that I didn’t think of trying different ram.

That stick of bad ram caused a lot of havoc. It was the reason I couldn’t install Windows XP again. It’s amazing what kind of damage one stick of bad ram can do. I’m almost back to the state the computer was in before this all started. It’s hard to believe this has been going on since May 16 of this year.

Needless to say I’m a very happy guy now. Anyway to commemorate the occasion of having a working PC again here are some shots of the recently released Unreal Tournament 2003 (1024×768):

Unreal Tournament 2003 is lots of fun. Everything about UT2003 reminds me of Quake 3. From the menus to the characters and even the levels. I’m not saying this is a bad thing. I’m just saying it’s a lot like Quake 3.
