On the 21st of this month I talked about the rumor of the hotel getting sold. The Beloit Daily News had a interesting article in yesterday’s paper called Panel told sale near at Holiday Inn hotel which pretty much ends the rumor. It seems it’s now a matter of time before we get sold. Here is the obligatory quote:

“The intent is to keep it a Holiday Inn and retain all of its current employees.”

Sure, though I think us by the hour peons are ok. The article also mentions how they plan to stay with the same brand. Time will tell.

Hey with a title like this can you guess that I’m talking about the state of Texas? And of course it’s a reference to Full Metal Jacket. Where is this going you may ask? Well it’s the latest poop on the hotel being sold.

It seems that a group from the state of Texas is looking to pick us up. And the headline pretty much sums up how I feel about people from Texas. And remember this is how I feel about these fucks from Texas. If in the future you read stuff with me saying otherwise, well that’s me lying ok? Well that’s how I feel about people from Texas looking to buy the hotel.

So if these boys come in and buy us, it seems that they will be changing us over to another brand. Fuck that I say. I’m not learning another computer system. Unless it’s a windows based operating system. You should see this old unix clunker we have.

The other thing about switching brands is that I will loose my status. What I mean is right now I’m the only one who knows how to the do the audit. I’m valuable. But with a new system I’m just another peon again.

You also may ask is it a good idea to come out and bad mouth our prospective buyers? Fuck them cowboys I say. This is the last hotel I’m going to work at. I hate this goddamned industry. And on a subconscious level I think I want to get fired again. The website that got one man fired twice and can do the same for you. Gosh that has a nice ring to it.

So Timothy McVeigh popped his cork yesterday morning. All I can say is good riddance. But there are of course a few nut cases floating around that think McVeigh either is a hero or a product of wrong doing. All I can say is bullshit.

First up we have Timothy McVeigh Was Telling The Truth It’s Not Your Father’s Mind Control Technology. Kathy Kasten believes it was all implanted microchips. Here’s my favorite quote:

Now I am not by no means a super patriotic guy. But I think that this lady has watched way to much X-Files. This chick works for the University of California.

The next two kind of go hand in hand. First we have Timothy McVeigh is going to be murdered by Inmate #27523-013. Inmate #27523-013 is also known as Ron Cole. Inmate #27523-013 defense of McVeigh is that McVeigh was at war. And Inmate #27523-013 is using the war is hell defense here. You know the war is hell defense right? In a state of war (sometimes and it’s really to bad) innocent people get killed. Inmate #27523-013 himself is in the clink because “I was raided and arrested by the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism Unit on May 1 [1997]. I am a prisoner of that war…”

For the record Inmate #27523-013 is a member of the Branch Davidians. Inmate #27523-013 supports McVeigh:

And in the same vein of the war is hell defense here we have a message posted on the Free Market forums entitled Timothy McVeigh: An American Hero! No quotes from this one. Just read it yourself. Unbelievable is all I can say.

Well that’s it. Just wanted to point out a few of these guys. This is six days in a row that I have wrote. Usually I only write while I’m at work. I’ll see if I can keep this up.

A few things right off the bat. First just a number of days to my twenty ninth birthday. Still have yet to nail down a date for me and the Isley’s yearly b-day diner. I am going to have to get a hold of Ross for when would be a good time to come up. Then I need to arrange my trip to Milwaukee.

Here’s the reason for the profanity, I have been asked to do MOD more. I’m not talking about my third shift stint when I’m the only person here. “They” want me to do the second shift MOD. That means I’m really in charge. So let me make sure I have my facts right, ok? I have a total disregard for authority. I believe rules are made to be broken. I don’t really care for the whole hospitality industry. I don’t even like most of the guests. I care even less for most of my fellow employee’s.

Under the previous GM I did a second shift MOD only once. He never let me do it again. The new guy has me scheduled for 3 nights in the month of April. Now either the new GM really sees how good I am? Or… Well I can’t really think of another reason. I just don’t get it. Now don’t get me wrong. I think this is really cool, that the new GM is letting step up to bat. I just wonder the motivation here.

So on April 2, 18, and 26 come down and I’ll buy you a beer.

What in the hell does look busy really mean? The reason I ask is I just heard the M.O.D. ask the bellman this. The bellman was sitting in the chair to the left of me doing nothing. Me, I was sitting here surfing the net. Now the bellman had nothing to do, as long as the kid does his job correctly. And the guy on tonight does a good job. The M.O.D. was a newbie, first time up to bat. To me saying “look busy” is the same as the kid telling Neo “there is no spoon.” Ponder that for a while. Then move on to the next paragraph.

I do understand the concept of looking busy. If “they” are going to be gracious enough to pay us, we should at least look like we are earning it. And that’s really what it boils down to. “They” would sleep easier knowing that we at least pretended to look busy. There is a defiance in not looking busy that must scare “them.” That is the only rational reason I can say. Well that I can say not being a manager. Now from a manager’s small point of view, it would be better for the employee to punch out and go home if they had no work to do. A manager looks after the interests of themselves (first) and then the company (second).

I’m sorry but that’s really what it comes done to. It’s us against “them.” The managers that have bought into the hard line corporate thinking. That have become nothing but corporate shill’s. It’s the ones that start out at the bottom and work their way up, and then forget where they came from. It’s those managers I hate the most.

On January 18th I wrote a bit called Raise Me Up. In it I talked about me getting a raise. I talked about a good friend, who didn’t get nothing but jack and shit from them. This guy is the nicest person I have ever met. He doesn’t talk back or start anti-hotel website’s. We will call him Stan Lee after the great Marvel Comics writer.

Stan Lee gets fucked all the time. People walk right over Stan Lee because of the fact he is a nice guy. Now this is bullshit. Stan Lee has a wife and kid. So his job is important to him. To me if you fuck with his hours, well your fucking with his family. And this is what “they” did. To some of you losing a hour off each day may not be a big deal. Well to Stan Lee it is a big deal. Jesus this really pisses me off.

Ok so “they” cut his hour? Big deal! That’s what your thinking right? Well to top it off they went and added to Stan Lee’s workload. See this is the kind of stuff (I didn’t say shit) I’m talking about. In the old day’s of this site I would cal “them” cocksuckers because of tactics like this. But since this is the “new” Hotel Blues I’ll just say they are naughty people. See I’ve matured (Cocksuckers!).

So I guess my question is why do “they” do this? “They” know Stan Lee has a family. A family he needs to make sure they (not “they”) have a roof over their heads and food to feed them. Please, someone explain this to me. I know some of you come here by way of www.ishouldbeworking.com. Do any of you have a good answer for me? And I want a good answer, not some corporate propaganda bullshit.

Well file this one under the I don’t get it dept. I know I shouldn’t be complaining about getting a raise. But, that’s just the way I am. I still can’t shake my feeling that its me against the managers. I had asked the old GM about the possibility of getting a raise. It was around budget time, so I figured the time was right. Its no big deal raise or no. If I get one great. If I don’t, it not the end of the world. Well I got one.

I’m not supposed to discuss raises with other employee’s, so I wont talk about it here. I’m a changed man. At least not in US Currency. I received a 7.43 pesos raise. So I make about 86.64 pesos an hour. By the way the Currency Conversion was done here.

I feel this was a decent raise, for this hotel. But I still don’ get why? Other than the fact I do a good job. I hope. But, why give me a raise? I would rather see some of the other employee’s get raises. Someone who say has been working there for seventeen years. A guy who causes no problems. A guy who does everything they ask. He does more than he is supposed to. My question is did he get a raise? Because I feel a little bad about my raise.

It’s just not right. Now I don’t know for sure if this guy got a raise or not. I sure hope he did. If he didn’t, well that’s another matter. This guy in question started a collection for the parting GM. He contributed his hard earned money to get the GM a gift. Now I guess this is what really bugs me. The hotel never has taken care of the employee’s that deserved it. It just makes me mad. I also have ran out of steam. I will find out if the guy I mentioned got a raise.
