Working at the hotel has become a lot funner since the new owners bought the place. What do I mean? I just found out about some new company perks and I wanted to tell the internet all about them. Of course there are some restrictions on who can use these perks, but that is a minor detail.

The first perk is calling the hotel when your shitfaced repeatedly. I know this doesn’t sound like much of a perk. Which is cool because I’ve always wanted to call my place of work after I’m pissed drunk just to fuck with whoever is working. Of course I’ve always been afraid that this kind of thing would get me fired, but I don’t have to worry about that any more. And you can call more than once, preferably you would call repeatedly.

The second perk is use of the company van to cart around you and all of your drunk co-workers or buddies. This is a nice one. I guess the issues of insurance and just the fact of driving drunk have been worked out. Which is cool because this is a perk I will use. I don’t know how they got by the insurance and driving drunk thing, but what the hell you only live once. And you don’t even have to be on the clock to take advantage of this one.

Now you may ask how I know that these perks are in effect? Well I’m glad you asked. I have it from a source close to the owner that this kind of thing is allowed. And here I was thinking that they didn’t have any clue on how bad morale was at the hotel. Well you proved me wrong with these moral boosting new company perks.

Because I’m bored here is a little chat I had with the assistant general manager of the hotel. I like to point out there is not a actual general manager. So this makes her the assistant manager of nothing.

Turk: hey!
Turk: you going to give me the 25th off?
Turk: hello?
Turk: don’t ignore me
Manager of Nothing: Yes I am giving you the 25th off
Turk: thank you Boss
Manager of Nothing: no problem
Turk: how a copy of the daily sheet so I’m not so bored off my ass

Turk: I have a copy of it at home Boss
Turk: I’ll sell it to you

Turk: I’ll see if I can find it

Welcome to the internet, your famous now.

About a week ago they took away the computer I used. Granted when I say I used, I mean the computer I played on. There has been no work related use of that PC for a long time. Of course that’s not saying having that PC didn’t affect my work performance.

Which is something this brain trust at the hotel doesn’t care about. Morale. My morale is low now since the computer moved to sales. And I’m only talking about the state of my morale. I don’t give a shit about the rest of them. And again this morale issue isn’t something the present regime at the hotel gives a shit about.

Because a happy me is a better employee. Of course right now I’m not happy. It works like this. They do me a favor, I do them a favor. And for this to work they have to do me a favor first. So as it is right now I won’t do them any favors. Life is tough.

Which also brings me to what I refer to as my time/their time. I’m on their time when I’m at work and punched in. My time is any time I’m not punched in and at work. From now on if they want to talk to me, the have to do it on their time. My home phone is turned off. I don’t need it any more. I only had a phone to get on the net. And since I got the cable modem, the phone is no longer needed.

And when I’m on my time I got no time for them. It really is as simple as that.

Today is generally the day one would put up some kind of bullshit about something bad happening. I have decided to not bother with it, because I can’t come up with anything good or believable. My usual thing is some kind of “the hotel shut me down” kind of April Fools Day prank. But unfortunately these new people are way to incompetent for this to work this time.

So I’m just going to skip the whole thing. It’s not even fun to take shots at these guys. They make it way to easy. And it’s sad the way things are.

On another note I was asked again about helping them with a website. They apparently didn’t get the message the first time. So one last time let me answer the question of me doing a website for the hotel (in bold type no less): No Fucking Way. Not for free, not for money, and not even if you begged. And if you have to ask why? It’s because I can.

One of the latest posts from a site I check out now and then has something that I can’t help but think is directed toward me. Now maybe I’m paranoid and maybe this site isn’t talking about me. Here is just a bit from this article:

Of all that this guy said this one little bit bothers me the most. Fuck you man! I don’t play video games, ok? Video games are what kids play, alright? I happen to play Computer Games. And there is a difference.

Other than the video game thing I agree totally with what this dude says. I can’t argue with the guy at all. If he’s talking about me. Go take a look at the site and if you got any questions or comments leave them in the forum.

Well I have some bad news for the hotel. They have been asking me about helping them with a website for the hotel (vote in the poll). I also have been waiting on the Public Library to get back to me. The Library ladies had asked about me helping them almost a year ago and I had been waiting to hear from them.

So this means that I will not help the hotel with their website. And really I can’t be happier. I’ve been looking for a reason to tell the hotel no and I finally have it. Does that sound bitter? Well your right. I don’t care that the people who fired me from that hotel are not there any longer. I hold a grudge against the whole place whether it be past present or future.

That place fired me and I guess I hold the grudge against the hotel. It’s become an entity to me. Not just a place, but a monster that eats people with no remorse. So this decision doesn’t bother me one bit. And I’m happy this worked out like this.
