So we have training coming up. Which just makes me all happy inside and I’m singing the “happy happy joy joy” song from Ren and Stimpy. I also enjoy the fact that someone new is going to train me. Now it all depends on the type of training of course.

If the training is related to the realm of the computer, well I don’t see what someone who’s been here since the 14th of this month is going to be able to teach. Of course if it’s the standard bore me out of my mind customer training, then I guess I could be taught all kinds of shit. Shit I admit I may need that kind of training for obvious reasons. Here is something I heard and it made me laugh:

This is mandatory training. If you cannot attend the times or days specified, you will need to contact <the person> and schedule a time that you can attend training. If you choose not to attend or do not make arrangements for other times and dates, you do not need come back to work.

It’s this part that almost sounds inviting “you do not need come back to work”, at least to me it does. I’m kidding of course. It also sounds almost like a dare, maybe even a double dare. And the time good for me? Let’s say any time between 10 pm and 8 am, ok? And on the days I work.

Do you know what they say about first impressions? It the first meeting that leaves the best impression, or is that just me? I like how I have yet to even meet this person. Of course it’s cool. But if I was to become the guy (or gal) in charge, I would make sure to meet all of my employees. It would be imperative to do so. You wouldn’t want any one getting the wrong impression.

But of course I’m very sure this new person has heard all about me from my buddies at the hotel. I wanted to take the opportunity to be the first to say hello. Welcome to the hotel and all that. With some luck they may last longer than some of the other managers that held the position.

Work is the usual. Which is neither good nor bad. I was asked recently about this post by a friend. They know that I had been working on some website related stuff for the hotel and they wanted to ask about my demands. They wanted to make sure I hadn’t forgot what I had stated a number of times. Below are those “demands” I had asked for before I would do any website related stuff for the hotel:

1. I need a decent pc out at the frontdesk. Because I will not come in any other time. Third shift is when I work.
2. I need a raise.
3. I need a internet connection for at work, paid by work.

Now one and three have been met. Number two is looking like it will never happen. My friend suggested that I was being a hypocrite. I admit that maybe true. But if certain situations at work happen as I am told they will, I will suddenly become very uncooperative on the website related stuff. After all I’m only paid to be a night auditor. No more, no less.

Now hear me out on this one. And then tell me I’m wrong. I was told by my “supervisor” that I was to show the other guy how to use an Excel spreadsheet. Now this all sounds good on paper.

Sorry about that. So I’m to show the other auditor how to use the Excel spreadsheet but I don’t have the Excel spreadsheet. Now I explained this to the “supervisor” when I was told about showing the other guy how to use the spreadsheet. I pointed out that I didn’t have the disk that has the spreadsheet. It’s hard to show someone how to use something when you don’t have it. I pointed this out to the guy a couple of times. But of course no spreadsheet.

Now don’t you think that the disk should be here for me to use and so I can teach the other guy to use it. Wouldn’t you think that this “supervisor” would have made sure I had the disk before he called the other guy in to be taught how to use this spreadsheet? You understand what I’m getting at, right? This doesn’t make sense right? Or is it just me?

Now that is out of the way I wanted to talk some more about piracy. The Better Business Bureau has a informative page here that explains all about Computer Software Piracy. Did you realize that the fines could be up to $250,000 and jail terms of up to 5 years. There also is an organization called Business Software Alliance and they are the place to go if you think your workplace is pirating software. But of course no one at the hotel would be stupid enough to do something like that. And I’m glad because an angry guy like me would be likely to report them if they did. Thank you for your time.

Fuck it. I was going to write about how the job sucks the big one. I was going to write about how I don’t give a fuck about whether I have the job or not. I was going to write about how I feel about the people I work with. But then I went over to Gawain’s site and listened to the Tom Petty song The Last DJ and then I read the lyrics to the song. And in a weird way the song could apply to me. The more I listen to the tune the more I like it. The first two verses I like the best:

I realized that writing all of this angry shit I want to spew to the internet won’t do anything. It won’t make the shit change at the job. It’s to bad. The place used to be fun. But I guess all good things come to an end.

I’m pissed. But more importantly I’m an asshole. Just so you know. I don’t think I’m going to work tonight or any other god damned night.

I can’t personally stress how much I like Ad-aware. Because I just hate spyware so much. My hate for spyware equals my hate for spam. Some people at work don’t understand these kinds of things though. Look at the below screenshot and ask yourself would I click yes or no on the Security Warning window?

Well someone here at the hotel clicked yes. They clicked yes lots of times. Take a look at this cut and paste of Ad-aware results after doing a scan. It makes me wonder sometimes. But thanks to good old Ad-aware the work computer is back to normal.

So my “friend” KoldKadavr (see this post) gets around. He also sent me an e-mail. One line, very simple message:

It appears that this guy makes signing other peoples guestbooks his hobby. I did a google search using the terms KoldKadavr, guestbook, and theautomann@msn.com. Here is what you get. Thats 262 results using those search terms. Dude has gotten around.

I did end up going to his site and I signed his guestbook. My entry was brief and I included the stat info from his ip address. Here is what I said (minus the stat info):

You know it’s funny how you come to my site and you tell me “more important realities await thee. Both God and I want you in the Great Beyond.” Now I’m not a guy who’s in touch with all this god bible stuff. But I find it amusing how you found my site. Interesting search terms there buddy. If people like you are the ones getting in to heaven, then I’ll be more than happy to take my chances on burning in hell. Next time I suggest you learn more about how things on the internet work before you go around preaching to others.

It’s funny how my entry is gone now. I guess the guy doesn’t want his browsing habits to be known. I of course don’t blame him. This guy is just like the Preacher, he doesn’t like people to have their own opinions. A person should be prepared to back up their beliefs. But these kind of closed minded people won’t have any of that. This guy and his ilk give the people who believe in god and yet still respect other peoples beliefs a bad name.

All of this doesn’t really bother me that much. I just wish if the guy is going to continue to spam guestbooks he makes his message a little different each time. I’ve looked at these entries he’s made at these other peoples site’s. They are all the same. Cut and paste is all the guy is doing. And despite what he thinks all he is doing is spamming people. Albeit spam in guestbook form. There ought to be a law against this kind of shit. What can you do?
