    This post is about a half eaten piece of cake/pie (whatever the fuck it was). Since I can’t hear this shit from the individual (yes you) I figure they can find out stuff from other sources as well. Of course it is my site so it’s just as good as coming from me personally.

    I was told yesterday when I came in (by the only good front desk employee we have) that I was accused of throwing away some kind of baked food the night before. I’m told that the person bitched for a rather long time about me and this baked good I supposedly had done away with.

    So for the record here is what really happened. I came in to work like any other night. I had my twelve pack of Diet Mountain Dew with me as I always do. The twelve pack is placed in the fridge in the back of the front desk where I always put it. Now anytime I find shit left in this fridge I take it out of the fridge and place it on top of the fridge.

    I do not clean up after lazy front desk clerks. So any shit I find left behind I leave it where I find it. For example plates of food that certain individuals are supposed to take back to the kitchen after they eat or in this case a fucking half eaten piece of god damn cake or fucking pie or whatever the fuck it was.

    That fridge back there is not yours. It’s not mine for that matter. If you leave shit in it your just asking for it to go and vanish. It’s rather inconsiderate to think that just because your fucking cake/pie is in the fridge I’m not going to put my pop in there. I like my pop cold. Pop goes in the fridge. It’s very simple. You see me come in every fucking night with the twelve pack?

    So I expect an apology. Because the last I saw this piece of cake/pie it was sitting on top of the fridge. So the accusation that I threw it away is false. Not that I really give two shits if some front desk clerk says. I don’t give two flying fuck if the person apologizes either. This incident is just further proof just how little the Sheriff is really doing to change the place.

    It’s been a long time since I wrote about the hotel. I’ve only briefly mentioned that there is a new front desk manager. I wanted to take the time to bring everyone up to speed on what’s going on. Because I’m thinking really hard about what my future holds at the hotel. And to be honest I want out of the place more than I ever have.

    So let’s start with this front desk manager. Like his predecessors this guy never felt obligated to meet his employees. It was four or five days until I even met the guy. Which I have never understood about these people that come in and don’t make an effort to meet their employees. Then the guy schedules a mandatory meeting on payday. At the time we actually get the checks. So right off the bat this guy is going out of his way to inadvertently rub me the wrong way. These items I have mentioned before and I just wanted do the recap.

    On the day of the meeting I go in a hour early. Because I was either going to get my check then or I would come back in a hour and get my check and not come back to the meeting this guy scheduled. Needless to say I got my check. I also introduced myself to the guy. Because it was obvious that he didn’t give a shit to meet me. I had the opportunity to tell the guy some of the things I felt were wrong with the front desk. The exact thing I said to him was that the front desk was like a western town without a sheriff. It was in chaos and everyone did what they wanted because there was no law there. I told him that it was my opinion that he had to step up and make sure they all understood he was the new “sheriff” in town.

    And to my surprise the guy actually used this metaphor in his meeting. He mentioned to the front desk that he was the new sheriff in town and that his word was law. I thought it was neat little gesture on his part. But it also meant (to me) that he more or less promised that he would do the job the correct way. That this chaos that had befallen the front desk would be put to an end.

    Here it two months later and what has changed? Nothing has changed. The new sheriff in town isn’t worth the tin in his badge. Things are still wrong as chaotically as before this guy came into the picture. The front desk clerks do what they want. There is no consistency in what they do. Which is funny because the guy went on in great lengths about how the front desk has to be on the same page. That everyone has to follow the same procedures. And it’s just not happening. And the sheriff? I don’t ever see the guy. It’s kind of hard to be the sheriff when your never there.

    And let me also touch base on some of the other issues I’ve mentioned in the past (and some I haven’t). When I was “interviewed” for the front desk manager job it was mentioned that extra duties would fall on the front desk manager. The gm was very cryptic about all of it and would not spare any details. The usual cover story was given to me that he didn’t have all the details himself. So as it turns out the front desk manager is doing two jobs for the price of one. Which I think is foolish if the rumor is true that the sheriff makes under 20 a year. I wasn’t really excited at the idea of more to do and I was offered 25 a year. So it makes me wonder about the new guy.

    I’ve also thought about this “gm” and his offer to me about running the front desk. I think it was all bullshit. A fabricated story to give the appearance that people within the company can go higher. It’s a fairy tale these assholes have tried to spread since they came into power back in 2002. A fairy tale I helped spread thanks to my own big mouth here on the net and in the real world. It was all bullshit. I honestly don’t think they ever had any intention of making me the front desk manager. It also appears that the gm’s claim of me being the second in command was also bullshit. Again I’m not surprised or hurt by any of this. I’m more pissed I let my self eat this shit hook line and sinker.

    Not that any of this matters. I don’t care anymore. The hotel will continue it downward spiral and not one thing will change for the better. My only hope is that I will be able to get my two weeks vacation in before I quit or get fired again. Of course there is the off chance that the place will finally close. Either way it doesn’t matter to me. I just know I have to get the hell out of the place.

    Rumor time. First up the Ninja Management Company (who has only been mentioned twice on this site here and here) has left the building. It sounds like it was them doing the quitting. As opposed to the owners letting them go for incompetence. Now if this is true it makes me wonder if maybe I’m right. Why would the “industry’s largest independent management company” give up managing a property if it was not because they were forced to operate the place like a bunch of retards. I hate to keep beating a dead horse here people but I really think the blame for how bad the hotel is run has to fall on the shoulders of the owners.

    Secondly I hear some disturbing things about payday that partly ties in with this first item. The rumor mill says that the Ninja Management Company has been the ones making sure I get my paycheck. So the idea here is since they are gone am I going to get paid on the 10th? Because I hate to break it to the new guy so early on, but if I’m not payed I will not work. Simple as that. I’m here for the money. If I like my job, or if I like some of the people I work with it’s just a unpaid bonus. I’m all about getting my pitiful 8.75 an hour. So if on Wednesday at 3:00 pm I don’t get a check consider this my advance notice I will not be working there on in till I get my money. I’m a mercenary plain and simple people.

    And speaking of payday. Who in their right mind schedules a mandatory employee meeting on the same day and time the employee’s get paid? My new boss it seems. I just don’t know how to take this. My gut reaction is that this is a horribly twisted and evil thing to do. I have bills that need paying. I have a checking account that is empty. At 3:00 pm on Wednesday I’m going in to get my check (if there is a check) and I’m going to go deposit my money and pay my bills. Now if the meeting is still going on once I’m done taking care of important matters I will stop in and attend what’s left of this meeting.

    Well there was no memo but it appears the new front desk manager has started. This new guy started on the 1st so I’m told. But like some of the former front desk managers he has not made it a priority to meet his employees. Which maybe it’s just me of course. But I’ve always felt that as a new manager one of the first things they should do is introduce themselves to their employees. Even if that means coming in at 11:00 at night to meet the guy who does audit.

    But again maybes it’s just me. It’s been 4 days now and I have not seen hide nor hair of this new guy. I’ve heard stories about how he’s the second coming though. I’ve heard how the one old lady who had talked me up just not to long ago now considers that this new guy is the best. The new guy knows everything about everything. No one at the hotel knows as much as this new front desk manager. Which makes me very happy. If I’m asked to show the new guy anything I’m going to say no I can’t because you already know more than me. Besides what can I a lowly night auditor teach a front desk manager?

    On the upside of all this I may start a pool on just how long I go without seeing this new guy. I won’t make it easy on the dude either. He’s going to have to come to me. I will not come in on my time off to meet this guy. I shouldn’t have to. It really doesn’t matter any more. This new boss of mine will be the same as all the others that have filled the position of front desk manager since the old days. And since I was offered 25 a year I really do wonder how much more or less this guy is going making. If he does the job right I hope they gave him more than 25 a year. And if he’s just another tool I’m sure he gets what he deserves.

    I’m loosing the will to go to work. I have been late every day this week. The worst part of it is that I don’t really care anymore. Who would they be doing a favor if they fired me (again)? The thing is I want to get fired again. I know that’s the only way I’m getting out of here.

    The air conditioning again. It’s fucked up. It don’t work. Ok? Fix the fucking air your retarded fucks that run and own this shithole of a hotel. We lost a whole team of soccer players (or some shit) to the fucked up air conditioning. How much money is it that we loose to the broken air conditioning? The air problem has been going on now for at least a decade. The cost of fixing the air has probably gone higher than the cost of fixing it. I just don’t understand how management (or again the owners) can run this hotel like this. I see two possibilities here to explain the way you people run the hotel.

    • Possible Reason One: You just don’t care.
    • Possible Reason Two:You are incompetent.

    In my mind that’s it. There can be no other reason to explain the way these assholes run this place. And if it’s entirely an issue of incompetent management then I say shame on the owners. Honestly now one way or another the blame has to be put onto the shoulders of these people who own the hotel. What are you people doing? You should be ashamed at what you have done to this hotel. Let me remind you what these owner’s said around the time they acquired this hotel:

    I wanted to pick a hotel I would be proud of in the future. Once my plan is completed, I’ll be proud of this hotel.?

    So my question is simple. Was your plan to run this hotel like shit? Are you indeed proud of what you have done? Because I am just utterly god damned ashamed of what you have done to this hotel. I hate coming into work every night. And it is all your fault. Take charge and make these above words true. Because no one like a quitter and no one likes a liar. You people make me sick.

    Right now it is 70 Fahrenheit and do you know what that means for guests of the hotel? It means that the odds are good that they are sweating their asses off in their room. Now unless certain conditions are met this is how it pretty much works at the hotel. Our air conditioning in the building sucks. From what little I know about it, it works like this. On the roof are 4 chillers. These chillers are what makes the air cold in the rooms air conditioning.

    Now the problem is that only 2 of these chillers work. So unless it’s really cold out or we don’t a lot of people staying in the place the air conditioning just doesn’t work well. And tonight we have enough people in the place to make those poor chillers work to hard. And the demand is to much on the system. So some rooms have little to no air conditioning at all. Which is something that I have a problem with.

    For the last ten years or so it’s been like this. Every owner and or management team in the hotel has decided to take the easy route and ignore the problem. The costs to fix these chillers are to much for these people I guess. And it makes my job hard. It makes any of the front desk clerks job hard. Basically nothing is said to the guests when they check in. Why advertise the problem? No what happens is people either get a room where it works or it doesn’t work. And you can either lie or tell them the truth.

    So you lie a lot. Of course I hate lying about this shit. It makes me feel like I work for a bunch of cheap sons of bitch’s (which I do). So I don’t lie. I just don’t mention it. Unless I have no choice. Like tonight for example. This nice old guy is checking in. He happens to hear me talking on the phone with a poor lady who has a room with no air conditioning. When I get off the phone the guy asks me if his room will have air.

    I tell him the truth. I tell him I have absolutely no idea if the room he is going into has air or not. I say to him that he will find out before I do. What else can I really say to the guy? I will not lie and say yes the air will be working. I can’t say that. I do not inspect the rooms before every shift. I don’t have a clue what the rooms are like before a guest gets in the room. I just wish the owners would fix this problem. Because it’s only going to get worse.

    You front desk clerks that I was going to shit can if I became the boss can sigh in relief. The tyranny of my reign has been cut short before it ever even started. I myself am a little relieved that the owners didn’t pick me. In the end it’s probably the better choice. I was told this today after the front desk meeting. The gm was nervous to speak with me I have heard. He was worried that I was going to tear him a new one for not picking me. The gm told me that in a staff meeting the managers voted to pick me. Which is nice to hear.

    Of course I can’t help but feel a little disappointed after hearing this news. At the same time I find it pretty damn funny because it just puts another nail into the “we promote from within” coffin that these management types like to spout. And again I’m not complaining mind you. I’m just thinking of the front desk clerks that will be spared getting showed the hatch since I won’t be in charge. Of course this brings me to the next subject.

    Your all are still in trouble people. No it can’t be said your even out of the woods yet. The gm (for whatever reason) is damn determined to make me management. And while they did pick the other guy to be the front desk manager it seems I’m to be this guys second in command. I’m of course very hesitant about this new offer. I’m thinking about the new guy. I wouldn’t want to be saddled with a second in command unless I had a part in choosing him. I told the gm to let this guy meet me first, and for me to meet him. Hell we may not be able to work together.

    The new front desk manager is slated to start around August 1st or so. It will be interesting to see what happens as this guy takes over. I of course wish him the best of luck. He’s going to need it.
