I’m slowly coming around to the side of you crazy people and have been moving really slowly to switch to Firefox. One of the things I really dig about Firefox (or Mozilla in general) is the little search bar thing up in the corner. Well of course the whole idea of Extensions in general really makes the decision to switch all the easier.

Plus being able to make my own little Search Plugin is an added bonus. Of course I don’t see it being useful to anyone other than me. But it just goes to show how easy it easy it for someone to create something that makes Firefox even better. It will take a few weeks to break my habit of using IE (Maxthon). The potential of Firefox is to much to ignore. So I guess you can consider me converted.

Holy crap I want this! I have all the collections they put out in softcover. But only the last four or five were bigger than normal so you could appreciate the Bill Watterson’s art.

If you don’t browse my forums you may have missed this post. What follows is the breakdown of the meat of it followed with my responses.

I found out about this website from a colleague at work. Seems you’ve gained some fans at work. I obviously cannot reveal anything about who I am or what I do at MSI – but I can say I am still employed there, and likely will be for some time.

Any time there is talk of people being fans of mine my head inflates a size or two. With him being with MSI it’s just extra cool seeing how their software is what we use at the hotel.

I used to be a night auditor/front desk clerk in Phoenix, AZ. (This is where MSI is based out of.) We all know how it goes – my REAL job was Night audit / Front Desk Clerk / Controller / Sales Rep / housekeeping / maintenance man. As fate would have it, I’ve moved on to Multi-systems. (A very wise move.)

Your a lucky guy then for getting a gig there. I’ve often thought about sending in some kind of resume to you guys. But then I remember how much I hate resumes and say fuck it.

Your stories remind me of the “good old days”. I could pass along some interesting ones of night audit encounters. I once started a tech-support hell website, but shut it down at the request of management. (someone narc’d me out.) Perhaps I’ll return to that endeavor at a later date – a yang to your ying.

I of course would encourage you to restart your tech-support hell website. But then that’s me. No names, locations, or brands is my motto. Other than of course when I break that rule talking about you guys.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say, “hey”. Your website is quite an enjoyment.

Hey right back at you. Thanks for the kind words.

I swear to god – I want them to change that @#$%^&* hold music just as much as you do.

You know I regret writing about that now. I feel some how responsible (unlikely as it may be) for the change to your hold music/system. I want KYOT back! The new stuff has no personality.

Flip side – I’ve had auditors act indignant with me as well. I’m going to be less willing to get them back to business if they are a prick to me. Quid pro quo.

Well theres a good chance that was me being the prick. My thing when I’m on the line with you guys is that I don’t want to have to sit on the phone with you guys for thirty minutes while you guys try to fix my problem. I want my shit taken care of and thats it. Call me back, put me on hold, do whatever you need to do to get the job done. But please for the love of god don’t try to engage in small talk. I’m horrible at small talk. I do often come off as a prick because of this. And I don’t think breaking the ice by asking if they’ve ever been to Hotelblues.com will work.

Today I quit smoking. I didn’t post anything on the actual date. This was written almost a year and a half later. Which I may add I’m still quit. I didn’t write about it and I didn’t tell anyone I was quitting. My thinking was that every time I announced I was quitting it never lasted. I always jinxed myself. So this time I didn’t say nothing to no one. I’m posting this to keep record of me quitting.

I chose the first because of how usually this day is a day of jokes and pranks. It was a symbolic thing for me to quit on this day. I had “quit” months before. I “quit” after a friend of mine had harped me to death about quiting. I didn’t want to quit. But I didn’t want to hear my friend harping me every day. So I quit. Only as far as my friend knew. I covered it up for a long time until I told him the truth about my not really quiting.

    Flashed! 5:24 am-

I got flashed tonight. Which was kinda cool. I don’t usually go in to work expecting to get flashed. In fact this would be the first time this kind of thing happened. It’s just one of those nights.

But it’s kind of odd. It’s the same deal I have with watching strippers that I know. This chick that did the flashing works across the street at a bar. And I’ve been in the place a few times and know her. I don’t know her well enough to consider friends and shit. But I know her well enough that her flashing her tits at me does make me feel awkward.

And believe me it’s not a case of the chick in question being ugly as fuck. This girl is hot. She’s the kind of chick that a guy would be completely happy being made miserable by her. She’s the kind of woman a guy would be happy forgetting all about his friends and anything else the girl didn’t think you needed anymore. Hawt to use the lingo of the internet.

And you can also believe me when I say that they (her breasts) were very nice. Which I think should be said as it’s not often I do get attractive women showing me their goods. Not that she had them out for a long period of time or anything. But in the few seconds I did get to see them I would have to say that on a scale of 1 to 10 that they were around an 8.4 just for those of you keeping score. Of course that’s not any kind of official ruling more a guesstimation on my part. One would have to do the proper research to honestly and objectively rate these kinds of things.

But I guess this kind of thing is just one of those nervous ticks I seem to collect. Or it’s just that I like being able to only view women I don’t know as objects to be desired over. I’m not quite sure on this one yet. But it’s very odd. I’m going to feel very uncomfortable the next time I go over there and get a beer from her that I can tell you.

    Hot Or Not 1:01 am-

I’ve been finding myself wasting a lot of time browsing through Hot or Not and I have come up with some crazy notions. Hot or Not (for those of you not in the know) is this virtual meat market where one can toss up a picture to have the vast wild and horny internet judge if your picture is “hot or not”.

Now I’ve decided I like Hot or Not for the same reasons I dig the idea of strip clubs. I can take a look at the offerings of these women without having to get involved in any manner. It’s all done without worrying if I know the chick or not. Which is a big deal for me. I completely loose all ability to function in the proper manner when it comes to these kinds of things when it turn out I know the ladies in question. Which is another story all together.

So while I clicked on the Hot or Not scale from 1 to 10 on these ladies I came up with a set of rules that would determine just how I would vote. After a while it became a game. And after noting that my lazy ass hadn’t written in a while I figured this would be an ice change of pace from my hotel bitching and Game stuff. Below I offer my very loose set of rules for how I vote for the ladies of Hot or Not:

    Hot
    Cleavage
    Under Garments
    More Cleavage
    You and Your Girlfriend
    Your Naked?
    Looking All Drunk
    Lot’s of Cleavage
    Cowboy Hats
    Did I mention Cleavage?

    Not
    Small Pictures
    Your Pet
    Your Kid
    Your Boyfriend
    Cross Eyed
    Badly Cropped Photos
    Your Car

Now each of these things can raise or lower on just how I decide to vote depending if it’s under hot (which can raise the score) or if it’s not (which lowers the score). And keep in mind that while on the internet I like to keep my male chauvinistic ways in high gear.

I’ve also noticed that I tend to rate redheads a little higher. Which really is no big surprise as I have a fondness for redheads. I also tend to score lower on pictures that have groups of people blacked out. If your to lazy to get a photo of just you you deserve the score of 1. I also can’t stand these people that feel the need to make a montage pic. You know the ones with 5 or 6 pictures edited into one picture. That rates an automatic 1. It’s to much information. I want to see one picture. Make that one worth it.

I also can’t stand black and white pictures. It’s the 21st century for christ sake. Color is good when it comes to these things. I don’t want to see poorly done photoshopped backgrounds either. That pisses me off. And would it kill you to smile? I don’t want to see pictures from a wedding, prom, or any other gathering of people. And none of this class picture shit either. If your last good picture was a class picture then it’s time to call it quits before you even think about putting a picture up.

    Seven Years Old 6:16 am-

My site turns seven today. As I pondered last year I’m not always certain that my site maybe a dubious achievement. Because I ofter wonder what has the site brought me? And the unfortunate answer is that it played a part in getting me fired. So should this be an occasion to celebrate?

For me to answer this question you have to look at what my goals were for this site. When I first decided to start writing about the hotel that employed me, my honest intentions for this site was for it to become a hub of sorts for all employees of hotels to find a safe place to discuss (and bitch about) their work environment. A place that anyone could use. A place for all levels of hierarchy to feel free to rant and rave just so they could blow off some steam. And in that respect the site has failed miserably. I do now and then attract a stray night auditor in the forums. But not many tend to stick around. I understand maybe people are afraid. I guess that’s the only thing I see as what stops people from sticking around.

Of course I do happen to have the honor of also hosting the forums and website for a Dark Age of Camelot guild called the Acolytes of Destruction. I’m happy to say the guild has been around for a number of years. We even recently branched out into the game World of Warcraft. So to a certain degree my original idea is not a total failure. The site has become a gathering place for some like minded individuals. It’ just that the target audience I was shooting for didn’t turn out to be my target audience. Which I guess isn’t a bad thing.

One last thing that does baffle me. While I don’t particularly like the terms blog or diary, this is what my site has become. It’s really what it always has been. Every now and then I attempt to make the site a little more known by signing up for places that keep track of this sort of thing. For example in early march I submitted my site to a place called the Diarist.Net Registry. And for a brief time I was indeed listed. Now I happened to to take a look earlier this month to see if I was still there and to my surprise I was not listed any longer in this registry. The requirements as found on their Submit your site page states:

This registry is specifically for online diaries, journals, and personal weblogs. Please do not submit commercial sites, generic personal sites (i.e. poetry, pictures of your dog, etc.), or topical or link-only (non-journal) weblogs.

And I’m pretty sure my site could be considered as an online diary or a journal and quite possibly a personal weblog. And I’m also pretty sure this site isn’t a commercial site as I don’t make a sent doing it. Neither is this a place to find poetry or pictures of my dog. So I just wonder why my site isn’t listed in their so called registry. So maybe I thought because it was that I write about my job. But a search shows there are many sites listed that do cover a persons line of work. Which makes me wonder just why I’m not listed? I find it all funny of course. It’s just something that baffles me.

Maybe someone read my post and took offense to it. Which in the end it doesn’t really bother me all that much. It’s more of a curiosity really. And maybe if and when this site hits the decade mark I’ll have earned the right to be listed with all of these other diaries, journals, and personal weblogs.
