Previously posted on my seven month anniversary at the new hotel:

I expect a few things from the people who employ me. Reviews and Raises. I expect that after a persons been at a hotel they get a review six months in. I like getting told how I’m doing now and then as it shows me that the managers/owners may actually give a shit about how the hotel is run. It seem like they (management) would want to evaluate the employees they have at least every now and then. The raise of course would be tied into the review. Now I’m not expecting a raise every six months. I personally would be happy with a raise every year.

This is a retraction of sorts of the above statement. I just find it hard to forget my own history. To forget the way things are run at the worst hotel ever. For the record the last time I got a raise at the worst hotel ever it still was a Holiday Inn and it was not run by the worthless fucks that run it now. So my way of thinking is that I have to beat around the bush with the people who run things. I have to threaten and beg. These were the things one has to do to get a raise at the worst hotel ever.

It was something I was doing at the new hotel. I started a campaign of sorts in the form of emails to my boss at the new hotel. The idea was to drop hints at what I wanted, at first. Then later as I progressed in my campaign I would then threaten and beg. First line of attack was a reminder on how long I have worked for them.

    Subject: Start Date?

    FDM,
Can you give me my start date. I can guesstimate. But I would like to know the exact date.

What I got back was short and to the point. No bullshit at all. And I figured there would be bullshit.

    Start date 9/27/06

So the next step in my campaign was to remind about my need for insurance.

    Subject: Insurance?

    FDM,
I’m eight months in now and was wondering what the official status of employee insurance is? I know you mentioned it may get axed. But I’ve yet to see any memo stating so. Because I’m of course interested in getting insurance if it has not been cut as a benefit.

The response again was to the point and free of any bullshit:

    To: Turk
    Date: Jun 1, 2007 2:38 PM
    Subject: Re: Insurance?

The company no longer offers insurance to employees, due to cost. You will have a pay rate increase of $0.50. It will show on your check on Friday. I will see you on Monday.

Not only did the message answer me it also completely stopped my campaign. I hadn’t even got to the wanting more money phase of my campaign. It was a few phases before money would even come up. It also made me realize that I have made a series of bad judgment calls.

The first mistake on my part is to assume that this new hotel will become anything like the worst hotel ever. The second mistake I’ve made is the thought that I need to beat around the bush with these people. They are not the managers and owners of the worst hotel ever and I should not treat them like they are.

My way of thinking has took a huge hit. I need to rethink everything about how I think about hotels. I basically have to relearn everything there is to learn about how a hotel works. I have to stop comparing the new hotel and it’s mangers and owners with the worst hotel ever or I’ll never survive there.

Firefox is the winner. At least according to Google Analytics. I think it’s cool that Firefox is beating IE. At least on my site. Click the picture below for a little more details.

Watchmen. I’m currently reading this again. I had to buy another copy because my first trade got water damaged when I moved the last time. One of the best comic books of all time.

    Watchmen

I want to get the Absolute Edition one of these days. The idea of a movie scares me in the same way I’m scared of the Fantastic Four movies.

    Oblivion Again 12:31 pm-

I’m playing Oblivion again. This time on the 360. With my newer computer dead I’ve got to get my fix on the 360 for rpg and such. The old computer can play EverQuest 2, I’m just really broke right now. So in a pinch Oblivion is a good choice. Well it’s the only choice for rpg’s on the 360.

Since it’s on the 360 I can’t use any unofficial plugins. I’m stuck with the official stuff only. And this time believe me I’ve skipped the goddamn horse armor. What I am playing with is listed below:

Which in the end I spent about 45 bucks to purchase these on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Not including the 60 bucks for the actual game. All of which I hand the hindsight to purchase before my car died on me. Te last three in the list was just purchased for shits and giggles.

Knights of the Nine I’ve played before on the pc. In general it’s a fun little quest. Not sure it’s worth 800 MS Points. Shivering Isles on the other hand is an honest to god Expansion Pack and is well worth the money. It adds an almost Morrowind like landscape to the game. It’s quests so far are fun. I even got to push a guy off a ledge so he plummeted to his death. Until another real rpg comes out for the 360 Oblivion will have to do.

I really do love what a train wreck mmo’s can be. Here is some news regarding Vanguard and the company that made the game Sigil. The first bit comes from Grouchy Gamer:

Brad McQuaid has been an absentee manager at Sigil for months. Not only has there been a leadership vacuum at Sigil, with the employees there left twisting in the wind, but I have been able to confirm that Brad hasn’t even bothered to be at the office. Since last year.

The above makes the next bit of text from F13.net seem a little clearer:

…at approximately 4:30PM today, Sigil employees were told to meet outside. At which point they were terminated. On the spot. By whom? Doesn’t seem to have been Brad McQuaid, if it was, nobody is talking.

It’s sad that miss management like this happens. There were parts of the game I enjoyed. But I’m not sad seeing how my pc that could play the game died on me. It will be entertaining to see what happens once SOE takes over.

This train wreck will have to do until those assholes making Thrones of Chaos surface again.

    Edit
    Looks like it’s official now.

    Edit 2
The drama continues. Here is F13.net‘s interview with an ex Sigil employee and then their interview with Brad McQuaid.

I’ve never talked to someone who sells money/powerleveling for mmo’s before. So when one looked me up I of course had questions I wanted to ask.

    [02:32] Brogame: HI
    [02:32] Turk: hi
[02:32] Brogame: are you the webmaster of Hotelblues.com/wow/ ?
    [02:33] Turk: yes
[02:33] Brogame: does your site talk about the online games, such as WOW ?
[02:34] Turk: my main site talks about all kinds of things. Including games like wow. the page your asking about is pretty much done with as it was for a guild that is now defunct
[02:36] Brogame: ok, did there have some advertising on your site about online games before ?
    [02:36] Turk: just google ads
    [02:36] Brogame: oh, I see

I thought it was funny that the farmer didn’t come right out and say what it was he wanted to advertise on my site. I did know in advance that this im conversation was coming as the farmer sent me an email first. So I had to ask what the farmer wanted because the dude would have beat around the bush all day.

[02:36] Turk: what are you selling?
[02:37] Brogame: we sell the game currency and leveling, we provide the best service all over the world
[02:37] Turk: I’ve never really done much with advertising
[02:37] Turk: what site do you run? that does all of this?
[02:38] Brogame: after browsing your site, we have a plan to advertising on your site, so do you accept this kind of advertising ?
    [02:38] Turk: depends.
    [02:38] Turk: whats your url?
    [02:38] Brogame: http://www.brogame.com/
[02:39] Brogame: this is our site, we have so many old customers now, I think both of us will earn much more through this case

It’s been a bad week first off. On saturday my good pc died (maybe). Then my car died. Which was coming and I ignored the problem. Cut to tonight. I’m running late. Getting into my brothers car (which I’ve had to borrow) my pants split out at the crotch. So I burn more time as I go in and change pants. Then interstate is tied up because of a car accident and I take the detour not thinking. I’m ten miles out till it dawns on me I have no fucking clue were it is I’m going. So I drive till I can find a place to turn around. Then I take the back roads into work. So when it’s all said and done I get to work over thirty minutes late. Did I mention it’s a full moon tonight?
