On a whim I picked up Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. A game by the same guys (Raven Software) who did X-Men Legends 1 and 2. Like the X-Men games it’s an action RPG. Between this game and NWN2 my CoV play time has stopped completely.

    Three Four
    Five Six

This game is lot of fun. The second X-Men game lacked something. But Marvel: Ultimate Alliance just seems to hit it on the head in the fun department. No micromanagement of character stats. They even eliminated gear down to one piece of equipment per character and only bosses drop items. The focus here are powers and the fun you have using them.

The files above are what you need to enable the “next gen” only console characters Colossus and Moon Knight. I take no credit in making these. These two characters will only show up if you start a new game. I think it’s bullshit when stuff like this is held back just because it’s for the next generation of consoles.

I look forward to playing this one for the xbox 360… Lately, my time has been taken up playing Gears of War (Fucking amazing), Saints Row (fun) and Splinter Cell Double Agent (also, fucking amazing).

Yeah going to have to now. For the original xbox it was Halo. Gears of War is the 360’s Halo for me. Hopefully I’ll have one by X-Mas at the latest.

Very nice! Let me know when you do and I’ll add you to my friends list :) GOW is a pretty sick game. It is a tad short (single player) but the online more than makes up for any shortcomings.

I picked this up recently and couldn’t stand it. I think I uninstalled it the same day.

What did you not like about it?

well, some of my issues are ones that I knew I would have before I even started the game: for instance, “controlling” 4 characters at once, rather than one. I’m not a big fan of that stuff. I’m constantly having to keep an eye out to make sure thor isn’t aimlessly running through fire while I kick ass with deadpool. (the coolest of the starting characters)

That was irritating, but I knew that was part of the game, so I was ready for it.

What I wasn’t ready for was for thor to get stuck on corners, crates, and seemingly the floor itself as he stood there getting pummeled by enemies while I was busy with other enemies. The AI for the “uncontrolled” characters is TERRIBLE. christ. Occasionally the idiots would just stand there while they got beat on, not even fighting back.

The controls were another issue. It was painfully obvious that I was playing a console game poorly shoved into a pc port. Mouse Clicking diablo-style was ok, but not great. Using the WASD keys was ok, but not great. A combination of the two seemed the best way to go, but still it was clunky to the point of irritating.

The graphics were ok. The sound was ok. The voices were excellent. Kudos to those teams.

The linear maps made me think I was playing some old nintendo game. That sucked.

AI is dumb no doubt there. There is a key to get them to follow you again, as well as assisting in combat with your target.

I avoided the control issue with the simple fact I own a 360 controller. And one of the pluses of this game is it recognizes it right away. I don’t have to do any black magic to get it working.

Which only supports your console port claim. And I agree on that too.

Also, you know you can remove all other party members at the save point right?
