Me, Gawain, and Purify have been tearing around the lands of Norrath for the last few hours. It seems that there is a working EQ emulator out and you can find it here. Lot’s of kinks still need to be worked on, but it is playable. Below is a screen of the group as we killed polar bears in the Everfrost:
It’s a nice change of pace from running around Camelot. But it’s just a diversion. If you want to join in the fun just follow these directions and look for the server called “Turk’s DAoC Retreat” and see if you can get in.
*Updated with a pic of my guy with the fancy graphics enabled.
Of course…leave me out of it. Shit, it’s like I have to hear everything second hand….
Oh well, I’m downloading now in hopes to join you soon. Whatever happened to playing System Shock II anyway?
EQ?, one?, doesnt look like anything I remeber about it.
Shit sorry. It really was a spur of the moment thing setting up the EQ server. I keep the server going when I’m at work. So jump on now.
System Shock 2? G never mentioned any interest in it. So I didn’t bring it up again. Which doesn’t mean me and you can’t give it a shot if G wants to miss out on some gaming goodness.
And I’ll be looking for you in our EQ server. By the way here are two text files for anyone that’s coming to play on my EQ server. One is a list of commands and one is a list of zone names used for porting around the world.
Yeah character and equipment look great and are textured great. Zones still look like they are from an old ancient mmorpg.
So did the interface change, before or after DAoC arrive?
hi………………..how do download thiss it says i cant wih accesvbelty wizzard
I was with you all the way until the end of the “sentence’ and then you lost me. You need to head over to the EQEmu site for help. The url is: http://www.eqemulator.net/main.php
thanks , is this worth it. I mean like can u summon the best stuff in the game and summon super high lvl mobs>?<
Is it worth it? No not right now. And yes you can summon any item and any mob in the game. You can make your own version of EQ if you have the time, energy, and know how.
Now the reason I say it’s not worth it is that this emulator is a pain in the ass to set up. And the current state of the EQEmu is one of disaster. They don’t offer any files to download that a person could use to just setup and run the emulator. You go to their site and the only thing you can get is the source code for the emulator.
When I had the emulator running there was a guy in their forums that had complied the source and was allowed to let people download it. When I went over there the other day I didn’t see anything like that. And I don’t know about you, but I have no clue (and don’t want a clue) on how to compile the source into an working program. For one thing to do it you need an expensive Microsoft program. So I suggest you take the time to look their site over and learn about this emulator of theirs before you even think about it.
Doing so will save you a lot of frustration in the long run.
