Also known as "PvPointless", Wow's player vs player system has no rewards, benifits, or really any reason at all to take part in it. And yet, inexplicably, many people do. The General and Defense chat channels are constantly bombarded with people yelling about how there's a "lvl31 NE in rachet!" or whatever.
People. Please. Listen to me. Yes, you are on a PvP server... no, there is no reason at all to take part in PvP. None. Zip.
You get no exp, no money, no "honor points" that Blizzard has been telling us we're going to get, nothing. Why do you insist on telling me I need to help?
The fact is, I don't intend on taking part in PvP until PvP is worth at least as much as the experience I could get for hunting monsters for the same amount of time.
Until then, have a good time accomplishing nothing.
Of course, I get ganked in the contested zones, and yes, I do my share of ganking while defending myself. But please, don't ask me to go on useless raids, or help "defend" one of our outposts against alliance players who, like you, ALSO haven't grasped the fact that pvp in it's current form is completely worthless.
Id rather do something that will actually result in some kind of gain. Like fishing.

Im starting to really get bored with this game. It happend around hour 13 I think.
I am almost level 23 now, I've gained 3 levels in 17 hours. not great, but not bad.
Now I am off to sleep, so that I can get up tomorrow and repeat the process, continuing the marathon on. i would have liked to just stay up, but Im old and im still not 100% sure I don't work today.

I write this from hour 4 of the WoW marathon that im doing on saturday and sunday, on the Mannaroth server, Horde side.
Im waiting for the zepplin.
I was just in what I would like to call a "camelot" group experience.
There is a quest called "Counter Attack" which takes place in the barrens. You (and hopefully a group) have to kill enough members of a giant invasion force to make the general spawn. then you kill him, rip a peice of his flag off, and turn it in for exp and tasty tasty candy.
I've been doing this quest for two days now, on and off, and today was the first time he actually spawned. Apparently you need to kill a LOT of the first guys in order to make him show up.
Anyway, my group consisted of a few level 20s and some 18-19s. We also had one level 14 guy. This dude was with us the whole time until we defeated the quest and captured the flag chunk. Everyone got it but him and a lvl 19 or 20 guy. The lvl 14 guy didn't get it because he wasn't on the same quest, he was on a different lower-level one requiring him to gather bracers from the same enemies. the other guy didn't get it because he didn't make it to the flag before it de-spawned and faded away.
Once the group finished the quest, all of them who got it took off except for me and the two guys who didn't get it. I decided to stay, because the quest is decent exp (they just KEEP COMING, like fat guys at a buffet!) and because I believe that if everyone doesn't get the quest item, that means you hang around till they do. The lvl 14 guy stayed cause he needed more bracers.
All is well. but here is where it gets fucked up.
The lvl 19 or whatever guy, who is imaginatively named "riddick", after a while (and after we had recruited a new group) started dying a lot. Mostly because he refused to follow instructions. Rushing into the middle of 15 enemies isn't smart, and the stuid fuck kept pulling them over and over again. When you hit one, they ALL come, so he would just get slaughtered. IF you wait long enough, all the invasion guys de-spawn, leaving the main quest guy there with only a handful of guys, like a delicious treat. However, "Riddick" wasn't willing to wait, like we kept telling him, over and over and over again. And after a while, he started saying "lets get rid of the lvl 14 guy, hes too low" and "drop the lvl 14 guy"
Which was stupid. Yes, hes low lvl for the quest, but its not like there were a lot of OTHER people hanging around. And besides, this guy was with us throughout the whole thing, and he hung around even after finishing HIS quest to help YOUR stupid ass. Hell, the level 14 guy at least listened when we told him to wait till they all left so we could pick off the big guy. Keep in mind, we both waited after we were done with our quests, just to help "riddick" out. I saw no reason to kick the lowbie just cause he was low.
Anyway, "riddick" kept whining, and eventually he charged in again and pulled 15 dudes again and I also got killed. So I just left the group. Fuck that. Its just like the groups I got in fucking Camelot. To quote "blade", theres always one asshole trying to skate uphill.
So anyway, if you see "Riddick" on the Mannaroth server, tell him to suck your cock.

So.
I've been playing WoW for a couple days now, and today I logged on and they had once again posted the "Please stop telling us about the lag" server-wide message. Not exactly the same one they had up during the beta, but similar.
So of course today, as 90% of the servers went up and down and the other half lagged so bad it was basically the same thing, people started complaining on the global area chat.
And... and this is what this whole stupid thing is about... there was always somebody who inevitably said "Hey, its the first week of the game, if you don't like it, then leave!"
Which both confused and pissed me off. First of all, when did it become ok for ANY released game to be fucked up? Thats not acceptable at all. If you put out a game, and its fucked up, that can only mean you put it out too early, and without enough testing. When did that become normal?
Another good one was "Hey, its the launch! At least its not as bad as AO [Anarchy Online]"
Well no. But again... why does that make it acceptable?
Who ARE these people who are willing to just roll over and present their gaping assholes for fucking by game developers? You buy a product, you expect said product to work as implied. If you went to the store and picked up an orange, and then got home and found out the orange was hollow and full of maggots, you would be pretty pissed off, right?
"But no," these asshats would say, "Its the first shipment of these oranges! It'll get better! You just have to hang in there and enjoy your maggot filled oranges till they fix it!"
In reality, we all know they rushed it for christmas, and to compete with EQ2. These lag issues popped up in the open beta, and they added the "temporary" que system to "fix" it. Surprisingly enough, four days later on the release of the game... the issue still isn't fixed! In fact, Its considerably worse.
Most people assume its a population issue, with the servers being packed (And in fact that is what Blizzard is saying about it too) But I think It has more to do with some bad database code somewhere, and the population rise is just bringing it up more and more so its more noticable.
The point is, they knew about it in beta and didn't fix it, and so now we all get to pay for being in the "extended" open beta, also known as "mmorpg release"
